Here is another French Provincial Dresser with rounded drawers. Beautiful bones but the colour is dull. I stored mmy roller skates next to something like this in the early 80s! It is solid wood, even the top, so a stain will be best to bring out the beautiful wood grain, something the original stain covers.
I sanded it down with an orbital sander and painted the body and drawers with Linen White Chalked paint by Rust-Oleum. Just as good but half the price of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, and easier to find (Home Depot).
Once the Espresso stain had dried, I used Polycrylic in Gloss to protect it. The painted portion was protected with Rust-Oleum Matte Finish.
